Growing up in the state of Alaska blessed me with a fascination for the outdoors, exploration, and adventure early on. I never imagined I would become a photographer, but I always loved capturing moments and the ability to create. A camera let me do both; I had never considered myself an artist growing up, nor did I believe I could be one. Yet somehow with a camera in my hands the creativity I had long thought I wasn’t capable of learning, showed itself in the photos I created. I continued to learn and progress, capturing as many moments and places as I could, letting the joy of creating fuel my passion.
Photography has the amazing ability to tell a story, the story of a moment in time. Discovering and capturing life’s most beautiful moments is what I live for and why I fell in love with the visual arts. Photography has brought me many incredible and unforgettable adventures like exploring the empty and pristine beaches of Indonesia to hiking up Alaskan mountains in the dead of winter at night to watch the Northern Lights. Experiences like these inspire me to explore more of the world and the people in it. I have learned how powerful art can be and how it is able to touch the lives of people all across the globe. I believe that art can change the world if we let it.
